So far, to build up the hype, we have seen many trailers and press releases. We have seen the campaign mode and a sneak peek of the all new survival mode. There has also been a trailer regarding the all new Call of Duty Elite service. Infinity Ward creative strategist Robert Bowling (@fourzerotwo), has been constantly tweeting new information. Various websites have also been leaking tons of multiplayer details such as guns, maps, and perks.

But my question is how will we unlock weapons in Modern Warfare 3? In previous games you unlock weapons as you level up. And you unlock attachments via challenges. Black Ops presented a whole new system. You still unlock weapons as you level up, but then the player purchases the weapon with virtual cash called COD oints. COD points were earned through gameplay. The player could then proceed to purchasing any attachment for the gun with COD points as well, without unlock. So how will we unlock weapons, attachments, etc. in Modern Warfare 3?

My guess is that Infinity Ward will stick with their roots and continue the classic level up system. But on the other hand, has Treyarch and Black ops set a precedent in the Call of Duty series?

CONFIRMED*Commando Perk – Appeared in MW2 however was extremely Over-Powered

CONFIRMED*Stopping Power Perk – Appeared in MW2, personally didn’t think it was that bad , IW deemed it as Over-Powered

HIGHLY LIKELY* Second Chance Perk – Was in Black Ops (nothing to do with IW) but they have noticed that it is a bad perk.

HIGHLY LIKELY* Tactical Nuke Killstreak – Appeared in MW2 was very unfair to teams who were winning and they still ended up losing because of camping.

HIGHLY LIKELY* Ghost Perk – Was Overused in Black Ops (Nothing to do with IW However)

 But have no fear news readers! I have all the news I would like to share in writing!

 So, what have we seen this week in the CoD franchise? Loads!

 First off, Modern Warfare 3 has been in the news and it is clear that Modern Warfare 3 is going up against Battlefield 3 and Gears of War 3 after all 3 adverts were seen during the UEFA champion’s league final match. Not only was the game great, but the adverts were brilliant. The latest news and word of mouth states, that MW3 trailer came on top and it is a lot better than Battlefield 3. Not only did Activision brag that MW3 is going to be better they said for every 3 MW3 games are bought only 1 of BF3 will be sold. However, there was some major up-raw after a “cocky” comment caused major rows between customers and Sledgehammer Games. Mr Michael Condrey apparently said:

“We have all been challenged. There are such hard-core players out there in the online community and you hear all the stories about the 8-year-olds, 12 year-olds and 13-year-olds swearing and ruining the experience.”

 This however caused major up-raw on twitter and made Sledgehammer Games sound bad. People were disappointed with this comment as people felt they weren’t being reasonable as saying that takes a chunk of fans out. Sledgehammer Games were unable to comment. Also the latest trailer of MW3 was tweaked so it didn’t cause so much trouble. Finally Black Ops has been going down in the ratings and less people are playing it, and with no news about a x2 Xp for xbox 360, this week has been making the Call of Duty Franchise looking grim. However, the new MW3 Survival mode is being stated as a copy of World At War Zombie Mode we all liked that didn’t we?

The reason why they are angry is that one level that is set in London happens in the London tube station and this is where a terrorist attack happened a few years ago.  Not only that, the game is so realistic it shows a double decker  bus , which doesn’t mean that much on its own, but the over-the-top  newspaper stated that they were angry that double decker buses can be seen during a massive war going on. 
The reason The Daily Mail said that it is going to cause controversy is that this game is “ultra-violent computer game which features explosions and scenes of destruction on the London Tube”  Not only have The Daily Mail been sending out furious messages saying the game is ultra-violent but “Supporters of those affected by the 7/7 suicide attacks in July 2005, which killed 52 people, called for Call Of Duty:  Modern Warfare 3 to be banned” I personally cannot see this game being banned in the U.K Modern warfare 3 here in the U.K may get world record for the wrong reason , and that reason would be , being  the first Call Of Duty game to be banned over here in the U.K. I have pre-ordered it already and when you go to the game stores here in the U.K, the staff say “have you heard of the controversy? If it’s going to affect you in anyway do not buy this game.”  Now, this is a very weird thing for the staff at game stores to say , they are usually persuading you to buy the game , not in this instance ! I have seen many people go in to the store wanting to pre-order it and later on decide not to because the staff have “put them off” from pre-ordering it. Finally, on the high controversy note, Metro also “jumped on the band wagon” and decided to also take a stab at Modern Warfare 3, they also said “the game should be banned” and also one person commented on the article saying “whoever plays this game  should be shot.”

However on the good news, I talked to the official main social media guy for Activision on twitter (Mr Dan Amrich) (you can find him on twitter: @OneofSwords). I kindly asked him if he wanted to comment on the latest bad publicity modern  warfare 3 he did reply saying the following : “@BBritcliffe Sounds like one newspaper didn’t like what they see, not “the UK.” What’s to discuss? Can’t please everybody, can you?”  This was a very thought about reply from him. If i was a company and saw people saying the game should be banned, i would be pretty mad and would get it fixed asap. 

The game is set to be released on the 8th November 2011 in all countries at the moment. What do you think about the controversy that  is around about Modern Warfare 3?
